Bio: Jim "Mort" McVay played four seasons as a goaltender at Colby College (NESCAC) in Waterville, Maine, graduating in 1991. Prior to college, McVay played Midget AAA hockey in Pittsburgh, earning two trips to USA Hockey's national tournament. During his senior year, he also helped Upper St. Clair to the Pennsylvania Class AAA high school state championship.

After attaining his law degree, McVay began coaching and captured five more AAA high school state championships, as well as five trips to the USA Hockey AAA Midget District Tournament.

Last season, he coached the Phantom Fireworks Midget AAA team to the Ohio State championship. Among his coaching awards include the 2002 U.S. High School Coach of the Year by the National Sports News Service.
